Canada, through a combination of federal and provincial immigration programmes, gives permanent residency to skilled and semi-skilled professionals based on their work experience, English/French proficiency, education, and capacity to create a business in Canada.
Did you know that a handful of these options do not require a work offer, allowing the applicant to gain permanent residence status in Canada prior to seeking employment?
This class offers the following program alternatives:
Federal Skilled Worker (Under Express Entry): Professionals with work experience outside of Canada may be eligible for PR even if they lack Canadian work experience or a Canadian educational certification.
Canadian Experience Class (Under Express Entry): This group may include professionals with as little as one year of work experience in Canada.
Federal Trades Class (Under Express Entry): Individuals with experience in the trades, such as construction workers, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, bakers, cooks, and equipment operators, may qualify for PR under this category.
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs): Provincial governments in Canada, like the federal government, offer immigration program that are tailored to their provinces' labour market needs and prioritise applicants with ties to the province, such as those who have a relative in the province, have work experience/education completed in the province, and/or intend to settle permanently in the province.
Caregiver Programs: Canada is dedicated to providing avenues to permanent residence for individuals who assist Canadians in times of need. In light of this, a new Caregiver pilot programme was introduced in June 2019 to assist Home Support Workers and Home Childcare Providers in obtaining PR. A qualified applicant from outside Canada may also apply for a Work Permit to work in one of these occupations in order to satisfy the Canadian work experience criteria for becoming a Permanent Resident in Canada.
